Job Title: Scientist II
Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States of America
The Scientist II position at Cepheid is a bench-level role focusing on real-time PCR and RT-PCR assay verification on the GeneXpert platform. The candidate will plan and execute analytical studies, demonstrate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaborate with cross-functional departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively solve complex problems impacting the business by verifying IVD tests on the GeneXpert platform.
- Manage experiments efficiently with shifting priorities and meet deadlines.
- Maintain detailed experimental records, document results, and ensure compliance with QSR Design Control, ISO standards, and GLP/GMP requirements.
Requirements:
- Implement verification and validation SOPs and produce technical reports.
- Conduct rigorous analytical studies to demonstrate technical feasibility and verify designs.
- Handle clinical samples and assist in microbiology work with BSL-1 and BSL-2 organisms if required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Bioinformatics or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the GeneXpert platform.
- Knowledge of IVD assay development.
- Experience in handling human clinical specimens and performing aseptic microbiology work.
