About the Company:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to carry out routine laboratory protocols and procedures on a 2 years fixed term contract at the Sanger Institute.
About the Role:
It will be expected that you will be able to use your skills and experience to trouble shoot and innovate where required. You will work as part of the support team providing solutions for the Cancer, Ageing and Somatic Mutations Programme led by Peter Campbell and other members of faculty at the Sanger Institute.
Responsibilities:
- Following laboratory protocols and procedures
- Monitoring laboratory resources
- Reporting experimental/equipment faults
- Reviewing SOPs and Risk Assessments
- Providing technical advice
Essential Technical Skills:
- Degree in a biological science
- Understanding of molecular biology techniques
- Theoretical understanding of genome engineering techniques
- Theoretical understanding of NGS
- Good computer skills
Competencies and Behaviours:
- Capable of working to a schedule
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
Salary per annum: Up to £26,525 to £31,829
Contract type: 2 years Fixed Term Contract
