Job Description
The Research Assistant (cell biology) will be an integral part of our team focusing on cell culture systems to investigate neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. This role involves searching for potential drugs to combat these diseases by maintaining cell cultures, performing assays, and continuously enhancing scientific capabilities.
Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To:
- Maintain various cell cultures, including iPSC-derived motor neurons and perform necessary assays.
- Conduct cell and biochemistry assays like qPCR, immunofluorescence, Western Blotting, and microscopy.
- Prepare solutions and cell culture media efficiently.
- Operate in a dynamic industrial environment.
- Analyze data from assays under supervision and present findings.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Applicants should possess a B.S. or M.S. degree in biological sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Biochemistry) along with at least 1 year of relevant lab experience.
Key Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in mammalian cell culture techniques and aseptic practices.
- Experience in molecular biology lab methods such as qPCR, Western Blotting, immunofluorescence, and microscopy.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Eagerness to acquire new techniques and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Understanding of biology lab safety protocols.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
