Job Description
Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Proteomics Technician to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Technical Requirements
- Performs proteomic abundance analysis using the SomaScan Assay.
- Performs routine maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of Tecan high-throughput robotic automation instrumentation (e.g. Tecan Fluent).
- Performs complicated multi-day experiments that utilize precious materials.
- Contributes to other aspects of lab operation with added emphasis on independent operation of instruments.
- Experience following scientific SOPs that require strict attention to detail to prevent costly mistakes.
- Good understanding of laboratory biosafety standards. Previous experience working with human plasma, serum, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, and other human sample types is a plus.
- Familiarity with Tecan Automated Liquid Handling Systems preferred.
- Experience with routine use of 12-channel pipettes for plate-based laboratory assays required.
- Experience operating and analyzing affinity-capture based proteomic assays (e.g. SomaScan Assay, Olink, Luminex, ELISA, etc.).
- Keeps detailed records of experimental procedures following standard operating protocols.
- Experience working in a laboratory that adheres to GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) is a plus.
- Experience communicating with high level scientists related to project planning, scientific capabilities, and technical input.
- Experience simultaneously managing and planning many projects through complicated multi-part queues while delivering timely and accurate results.
- Maintains familiarity with relevant platforms in the field of proteomics through the review of scientific literature, communication with vendors, and scientific networking.
- Ability to multi-task in a busy lab and to approach tasks and obstacles with a team-first mentality.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment with co-workers, expertise ranging from novice to expert.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years of bench-based laboratory work experience.
