Novartis Ph.D. Biology Scientist Novartis is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our System Biology group in CVM. We conceive, develop, validate and employ biochemical and cell biology tools to evaluate and develop new therapeutics against a range of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
Job Title: MS/Ph.D. Scientist, Systems Biology
What you will be doing:
•Conceive, plan and perform biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays
•Contribute to the development of 2D / 3D human iPS-derived cellular models related to cardiac biology
•Develop and implement screening platforms to identify and validate targets influencing cardiovascular disease.
•Support target validation, mechanism-of-action, and drug discovery projects
•Conduct data analyses and documentation of experiments
•Collaborate while working in a matrix environment to support drug discovery projects
•Keep good laboratory, data recording, and data documentation practices
•Present results in lab and department meetings
Minimum requirements
What you will bring to the role:
•MS plus 3 or more years’ experience or recent Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, bioengineering or other life science field
•Knowledge of cardiovascular biology and related experimental approaches a plus
•Direct experience with human iPS derived cellular models preferred
•Expertise in advanced molecular biology applications, CRISPR, genetic engineering, and complex 2D/3D disease model development a plus
•Knowledge of high throughput biochemical and cell-based assay development
•Ability to quickly grasp new techniques and focus on detail
•Basic knowledge of statistics and computational data analyses skills
•Excellent team player, who demonstrates good communication skills, creative problem-solving capabilities, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment
•Strong wrote, oral and record-keeping skills
•Flexibility and aptitude for learning, with a passion to drive groundbreaking science
