The Role
We are looking for a Research Associate to undertake research on the type VII protein secretion system of Staphylococcus aureus funded by the Wellcome Trust. The project will use biochemical and structural methods to determine the organisation and assembly of the type VII secretion machinery and the mechanism of protein secretion.
Candidates with a background in Staphylococcal genetics and biochemistry and membrane protein analysis are encouraged to apply.

- Develop and carry out the specified project using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Contribute to grant applications and develop research objectives
- Assess research findings and contribute to publications
- May be involved in supervision of research projects
The Person (Essential)
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Ability to work well as part of a team and rapidly acquire new skills
- Detailed subject knowledge of S. aureus and protein secretion
- Experience with biochemical and structural biology methods
- Ability to communicate complex information with clarity
Qualifications: A PhD in biochemistry or molecular microbiology
