Gerber Products Company dba Nestlé Infant Nutrition is seeking a Factory Quality Manager to join its’ team at our Fremont, MI, facility.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Nestle Microbiology Job Opening

The Factory Quality Manager is the driver and guardian of food safety and compliance and the challenger of all functions in Nestles’ Fremont, MI factory. They will manage Quality Assurance department budgets, support end-to-end food safety and product quality-related activities (Procurement & Supply Chain).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• People and Know-how: Develop and maintain competencies, quality awareness, and commitment to zero defects in the factory through development/integration of training material, teaching, coaching and assessing.
• Nestle Microbiology Job-Opening Quality Systems: Setup, manage, enforce, and maintain the Nestlé Quality Management System as well as establishing the Operating Quality Manual.
• General Laboratory methods and practices: Ensure the correct functioning of the factory laboratory, including personnel safety, availability of equipment, ensure appropriate methods and/or method verification, and training of technicians.
• Hygiene: Ensure adherence to good hygienic practices in the factory. Ensure the correct implementation and supervision of the factory’ pest management program.
• Quality auditing and verification: Manage the internal auditing program, assess the performance of the quality system, report its effectiveness to management, and propose actions for improvement.
• Continuous improvement and root cause analysis: Ensure the monitoring of key quality parameters by means of statistical process control in order to drive structured root cause analysis and continuous improvement in the quest for zero defect. Be the management representative for Quality (MRQ).
• Support continuous improvement by initiating or participating at the appropriate level in operational reviews, problem-solving activities, and implementation of TPM Pillars.

SUPERVISION GIVEN:

• Makes frequent autonomous decisions under the direction of the Factory Manager &/or Director, Corporate Quality.
• Lead teams of 5-10 quality professionals and indirect leadership for 20-50 subordinates team members
• Directly manages QA Supervisor(s) and Quality Specialists. Also responsible for Technicians and other hourly associates as needed.

EXPERIENCE:

• BS/BA degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or related degree with 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience in a food manufacturing facility.
• Previous supervisory/people leader responsibilities highly preferred.
• Experience in food processing and understanding of the agricultural market preferred
• Management exposure across several functions
• Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams
• Leadership and people development skills.
• Able to set priorities and delegate activities.
