Role Overview
The Molecular Subject Matter Expert will play a key role in supporting product development in biotech through regulatory safety studies at Corteva Agriscience. This position will involve working with a team to analyze genomic data, prepare study reports, and ensure regulatory compliance for genetically modified and gene-edited crops.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute regulatory studies in molecular and bioinformatics areas
- Coordinate and perform experiments to characterize GM/GE crops
- Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic datasets
- Collaborate with global teams to address scientific challenges and regulatory requirements
- Provide input to regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with standards
- Contribute to lead discovery in key crops through collaboration with researchers
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Ph.D. degree in plant genetics, plant molecular biology, functional genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology or related fields, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in the agricultural biotech industry; post-doctoral experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in NGS and workflow, proficient in using analysis software and techniques for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience in experimental design of GM/GE trait characterization using molecular, genetic, genomic techniques, and bioinformatics approaches with a proven record of success in the form of publications and/or patents.
- Excellent analytical skills in interpreting and presenting study results with enthusiasm for problem-solving.
- Broad knowledge of gene editing technology, agricultural biotechnology, plant molecular biology, and bioinformatics.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a matrixed team environment.
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of gene editing technology and agricultural biotechnology
- Experience with high-performance computing and coding in Python and R
- Understanding of GM traits/products requirements preferred
