Major Responsibilities:
- Maintaining mice colonies
- Genotyping mice
- Mouse phenotyping experiments (glucose tolerance, insulin tolerance, etc)
- Mouse non-survival and survival surgeries
- Molecular biology experiments such as western blotting, qPCR, high resolution respirometry
- Cell culture experiments Data analysis, interpretation, presentation
- Assisting with training of students and postdocs in the lab
Required Qualifications:
As part of a career progression group, vacancy may be filled from this recruitment as a Research Specialist 1, 2, or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
Research Associate 1
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline
- 0 – 3 years of experience working with mice, cell cultures, and/or molecular biology
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Research Specialist 2
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline
- 3 – 5 years of experience working with mice, cell cultures, and/or molecular biology
- All additional qualifications as listed above
Research Specialist 3
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline
- More than 5 years of experience working with mice, cell cultures, and/or molecular biology
- All additional qualifications as listed above
Additional Job Description:
This position requires a 40-hour work week, and applicants must be willing to work flexible hours. Several hours per day will be spent working with mice or in a basic science lab setting.
