This position is accountable for effectively applying technical and laboratory methodologies and knowledge to ensure quality control testing of flavors produced at Northwestern, along with liquid flavors procured externally and used at MW manufacturing sites globally. The position is also accountable for escalating incidents and non-conformances as applicable to the Senior QFS Manager and Scientists Laboratory. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting in generating and maintaining MW flavor specification data, generating qualification data of flavoring ingredients globally and supporting flavor cost savings initiatives. These tasks are executed in close collaboration with the site Senior QFS Manager, Scientists Laboratory, factory team, Business unit functions including Commercial and MW R&D.

Minimum Qualifications
BS degree in Chemistry, Food Science or related technical field and college coursework with relevant experience in Analytical/Sensory Laboratory environment with proven laboratory methodology capabilities including food/flavor sensory, Gas Chromatography and Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS)
Preferred Qualifications
- BS Degree in Chemistry, Food Science or related technical field and 2 years relevant experience in Analytical/Sensory Laboratory environment with proven laboratory methodologies capabilities including food/flavor sensory, Gas Chromatography and Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and 2 years relevant experience in Quality and Food Safety systems in a Food/Flavor manufacturing environment.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Support and assist in various quality and food safety management systems in compliance to FSSC22000, FSMA, Mars Laboratory Quality Standard and MARS Quality Management Procedure standards.
- Provides analysis and technical knowledge of Northwestern Flavors produced flavors and externally procured flavors for MW operations globally through sensory and analytical testing, assists in developing flavor specification data, and assists in managing flavor ingredient qualification testing. Recording results inapplicable MW database systems.
- Assist in implementing various MW R&D Strategy Deployments at the Northwestern Flavors site and Laboratory.
- Provide supporting flavor data and input as requested for other MW Business unit functions on projects and activities including operations, commercial, R&D, health and safety, and supplier quality assurance.
- Provides problem-solving expertise and knowledge for flavor and laboratory issues which could include flavor quality, instrumentation maintenance, and troubleshooting, and company-related business concerns related to flavors.
