Job Title : Research Technician 3
Department : Medicine | Neurology
Job Responsibilities:
- 50%: Assists and supports scientific investigation to study the mechanisms underlying Neurodegeneration as directed; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, Western analysis, oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities.
- 30%: Sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, and inventory, and initiates procurement requests as needed, obtains quotes from different vendors, coordinates new equipment/ reagent arrivals; other duties as assigned.
- 20%: Records, consolidates, and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals, manuscripts, and professional presentations; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature.
Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/Desired:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- The ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
- Requires successful completion of a background check.
- Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
