Bactobio Chief of Staff We are looking for a Chief of Staff to help shape our company’s growth.

Bactobio is a young London-based biotechnology company. We use breakthrough technologies in synthetic biology, next-generation sequencing, and machine learning to cultivate the 99% previously unculturable microbes. These microbes constitute the biggest bioresource in life, and our exclusive access allows us to discover novel chemicals that can be applied across a variety of markets.

We are impact driven. Our first goal is therefore to solve the growing antimicrobial resistance crisis through novel antibiotics and stabilise global food security through novel natural biodegradable fungicides.

Role

This is a newly created role within the Business Development and Operations team. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Head of Business Development, the Head of Operations, and the CSO, you will help shape Bactobio’s strategy as we continue to grow. We are looking for a self-motivated and highly adaptable individual to make the role their own in a fast-paced environment.

Team

Our Business Development and Operations team is a close-knit group who manages the daily operations and long-term vision of a fast-growing biotechnology company. We run a lean structure with a strong work ownership mindset and collaborate closely to keep the company’s development on track.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage Corporate Governance: Work with the CEO on ensuring a high level of corporate governance, including organising board meetings, ensuring that annual reports are of high quality, and help shape changes to the articles of association and shareholder subscription documents.
• Manage Bactobio’s grants pipeline: Bactobio is impact driven. We therefore often have goals that are aligned with government policies. A high proportion of our resources consequently come from government grants, and you will help apply for grants, and establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant grant bodies.
• Ensure connection between BD and R&D: As the company grows, aligning priorities of internal stakeholders becomes increasingly important. This role gives you the opportunity to engage with leaders across the company to ensure that key milestones are prioritised. This could include monitoring KPIs in key projects.
• Contribute to our Series A preparation: Help shape our Series A by assisting with the creation of external materials, identifying fundraising opportunities, and pitching.
  Help shape Bactobio’s business model: Work with the Head of BD to refine Bactobio’s short and medium-term business model.

You should have:

• Educational grounding in science or technology (PhD preferred)
• 4+ years experience in startups / strategy / consulting / business development /
• Collaborative drive and good team ethic
• A focus on impact, as an individual contributor and by guiding the people around you
  First-class problem-solving and a drive to address new challenges quickly
• Ability to step outside of your comfort zone and adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent written & spoken English
• Strong presentation skills and capabilities with Microsoft Office
• Exceptional project management skills – proven experience in leading strategic initiatives and handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
