Basic Qualifications for Amgen PhD Biochemistry Jobs
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications for Amgen PhD Biochemistry Jobs
- PhD in biochemistry, protein engineering or related discipline with additional 1+ year(s) of relevant experience
- Detailed knowledge in recombinant expression, protein biochemistry (including affinity, ion exchange, HIC, SEC chromatography) and method development
- Familiarity with chromatography hardware and software (GE AKTA, Agilent HPLC)
- Proven microbiology skills culturing E. coli and yeast
- Experience with insect cell culture
- Biochemistry analytical experience (SDS PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, Mass Spectrometry)
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
- Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills as evidenced by a strong publication record.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Work cross-functionally with our therapeutic areas to design, produce and characterize
- key protein reagents aimed at enabling both small molecule and large molecule discovery projects
- Amgen PhD Biochemistry Jobs Act as a technical leader to bring innovative approaches to difficult purifications including multi-subunit protein complexes
- Provide scientific results that support the generation of publications and patents; participate in internal and external scientific meetings

The Scientist will be a part of a multidisciplinary team with capabilities in molecular engineering, cloning, expression and purification of proteins, including antibodies, bispecific and membrane proteins.
