Assistant Biochemist
Summary:
Performs biological testing of moderate to advanced complexity within the QC Biochemistry tissue culture area. Ensures safe, accurate, and efficient procedures are followed, maintaining complete and accurate records of work and results for the release of raw materials, in-process materials, and final containers.
Primary Responsibilities for Role:
- Conducts various routine and non-routine biological testing as per procedure.
- Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Calibrates equipment and performs maintenance.
- Helps maintain an inspection-ready lab.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attends required GMP and Safety training.
- Demonstrates good work ethics and maintains acceptable attendance.
- Conducts work with a focus on safety, quality, and timeliness.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The Assistant Biochemist is expected to possess knowledge to recognize abnormal results and perform preliminary evaluations. Education: Associate’s Degree in a life science field or related, with at least six months of relevant lab experience.
Associate Biochemist
Summary:
Performs biological testing of moderate to advanced complexity within Quality Operations, ensuring safe and accurate procedures are followed. Coordinates lab activities, trains other biochemists, and participates in special projects.
Primary Responsibilities for Role:
- Coordinates lab activities in the absence of the Lab Supervisor.
- Trains Assistant Biochemists and other Associate Biochemists.
- Participates in special projects and assay evaluations.
Additional Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains analytical equipment specific to the lab assignment. Requires strong communication and teamwork skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Requires at least two years of related lab experience and knowledge equivalent to college-level biology courses. Education: A progression from the Assistant Biochemist position.
Experience:
Two years of experience in chromognic assays, ELISA assays, flow cytometry, blood banking, or tissue culture.
Equivalency:
Directly related experience or a combination of education and experience may be considered.
