About the role

Forming one division within the Science Innovation Platforms department, the Molecular Biology Laboratories is a facility that actively supports genomics research at the Museum.

You will support laboratory activities, such as maintaining lab space, equipment and facility resources for researchers, curators and students.

About you

The ideal candidate for this position is a highly motivated individual with a strong background in biology, particularly molecular biology. They should possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in this field or a relevant area, or have demonstrably equivalent experience. Prior experience of working and maintaining a clean and safe environment in a laboratory setting is essential.

This role requires a well-organized and self-directed individual with excellent time management skills. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of molecular biology techniques and be able to apply them effectively. Analytical abilities and a keen eye for detail are crucial, as is the ability to collaborate seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team whilst also taking initiative on individual tasks.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to ensure clear and concise information exchange. A strong desire to learn and continuously develop new skills, along with a willingness to provide support for lab users, is highly valued.
